PaperArtsy Mini-book

Isn't it fab?  Don't you just love that lovely bird?  This was made in a workshop with the fabulous Leandra from PaperArtsy.  I had been really keen to have a play with the 10 Seconds Studio tools, as a set has been on my want list for a while and I really wanted to try them first to see which set would be best.  I bought the basic set to start with, but I can see I'm going to be buying more!  In the class we painted the edges with acrylic paint, but when I got home I decided to add some copper Krylon to the edges to tie in with the metal.

I also had to knock up a quick card for my boyfriends kids to give their grandma.  I'd made our card ages ago, but had completely forgotten that the kids would need one too.  So this was made in a rush on Sunday morning so they could give it to her at her birthday lunch! 

Sneak peak

I'm just about ready to go for the first workshop, so thought I'd give you a sneak peak of some of the cards we're going to cover.  Now I've got these done, I'm hoping to have some time for challenges, plus I've signed up for a little house swap, and an altered card deck challenge, so I really have got a big to do list!

The above cards are using masking techniques to put the little element in front or behind the main image.

 

 

Love is in the air.....

I've got a couple of cards to share today.  The first is my Valentine card for my boyfriend, the second is a baby card for one of our friends:

The stamps on the backing paper are all from Club Stamp kits, the 'Love You' on the heart is from Doodlebug.

 

All the stamps on this card are Doodlebug.  The scallop circle is stamped onto vellum, then embossed with gold powder. 

Catching up

I've been having a good sort out of my craft room over the last week, and am nearly through the tedious task of putting all my unmounted stamps into CD cases.  I did have them in two large lever arch files, but they were so cumbersome I decided to change to CD cases instead.  In between, I've been trying to get all the cards I need for the next couple of months made, here's a selection for you to see:

 

Valentine's

Yes, I'm that sad!  I'm already starting on my Valentine's cards.  I'm determined to start next year being well organised and having my cards made well in advance rather than making them at the last minute in a panic!  I got some lovely Doodlebug stamp sets from my boyfriend for Christmas so they've been perfect for this first set of cards.  I made some lovely one's last year with Lasting Impressions stencils, so I plan on doing some more of those later, but here are the Doodlebug ones - I just love the flower bouquet stamp, I can see that being useful for lots of other cards too:

RubberMoon Stamps

I just received some gorgeous stamps from RubberMoon Stamps.  These are the first few cards I made, I'll have some more to share later.  They have some fabulous designs, if you haven't seen them, click on the link above and have a look - I'm sure, like me, you won't be able to resist!

Hopefully the last Christmas cards!

These cards are for my stepchildren, Grace and David.  They're both made with Pink Petticoat images, with a cuttlebug Christmas embossed background.  I coloured the images with H20s, and added a bit of liquid pearls for icing on the cake.  Once the Christmas party is out of the way tomorrow, I hope to start concentrating on birthday cards I need for next month, then Valentine's cards!

Although I finished all my cards ages ago, my boyfriend likes to give individual cards to his family, so I made these for him:

 

Back to normal (I hope!)

I now have 2 out of 3 big commissions over with, so will hopefully have some more time to spend crafting on things for myself.  I went to the Hobbycraft show at the NEC last week, and bought quite a lot of stash.  I didn't think that much of the show really, it seemed to me that there were lots of stands selling that same old stuff, and there wasn't much in the way of new products (I wanted to get all the new Stickles colours - ut only found 2, plus I was hoping that the Cricut pens might be there).  I did get some nice stuff though - some Cuttlebug embossing folders, a crop-o-dile, some doodlebug stamps, Ellison paper block, some cardstock, some Rangers crackle paint, and the Laurie Mika book on mixed media mosaic, which is fab.   I had the day off work yesterday, so spent the whole day in my craft room making some cards to sell at work using all my new goodies:
