My little niece, Ella, is making her First Holy Communion this June, and my sister asked me if I’d make the invitations for her.
I knew I had a box of pearly, shimmer paper that has a slight gold tint to it, and I thought that would look lovely with some dry embossing. There really aren’t many stamps or embellishments available for a Communion, so I decided to make a cross using pearls or crystals. As soon as I showed Ella my ideas, she wanted crystals rather than the pearls, so I went out and got some nice Swarovski crystals to use as they are much more sparkly than the Stampin’ Up gems I used on my sample card.
These are the two designs we narrowed it down to. The one on the left is Ella’s choice, the one on the right is my sisters choice, and I personally like the embossed pattern on the right, but the platinum embossing powder used on the left. After a little Facebook vote, I think Ella’s design is the winner, so we’ll probably go with that – it is her day after all!
