Kathy has chosen a really fun dare for us this week at the Daring Cardmakers, she wants to see swinging elements on our cards, with extra points for using a circle (as in roundabout).
I knew straight away which stamp I wanted to use for this, as I thought the design of this monkey lends itself perfectly for this sort of card.
The only tricky bit to this idea, is that you obviously need a reverse image of the stamp so that you can stick the two stamped images back to back. The trick to this is to stamp the image onto an acetate sheet, then rub that onto the card, giving a reversed image. I used brown Memento ink and it worked perfectly first time. In fact I was a little shocked at how easy it was and how crisply the image came out.
The monkey and greeting are from the Tremendous Treats Birthday set from Papertrey Ink, and the leaves are from the Paper Smooches Zoo Crew set. I added some Wink of Stella to the leaves so they have a nice shimmer.
Before I put this card in the envelope, I’ll twist the monkey round several times, so that as you open the envelope he will spin round and round.
Pop over to the blog to see the imaginative cards the rest of the team have designed this week.
Sharon, that little monkey is the perfect image for a twirly card - and he is so cute too.
Great tip for the reversing trick - though I'm sure it would smudge if I tried it ;)
