It’s Miri’s turn to choose the challenge this week at the Daring Cardmakers, and she wants us all to create something with a Bokeh effect.
Although I’d seen lots of tutorials on this technique I’d never got round to trying it. Oh my goodness, I am in love. It’s so easy to do, and I just love the effect.
For my background, I cut a piece of watercolour paper to size, then added water all over it before dropping some Gansai Tambi watercolours all over. As the paper was nice and wet, they dispersed well and mixed in places (bear this in mind when choosing colours as you don’t want colours that create a muddy mess when mixed!). Once this had dried, I added white circles with pigment ink. All my circle stencils were a little small, so I just punched some circles into acetate and used that as a template to sponge the white ink through. I then heat embossed the greeting with brass embossing powder onto vellum and added this across the front.
Hope you decide to give this technique a go and join in with us – it’s really fun!
