Last weekend I decided to join my friend Katie Skilton for a weekend of workshops taught by the very talented Marta Lapkowska. It was great fun.
The workshops were held at a rowing club right on the river in Stockton on Tees - it was a great setting for a workshop as the room was lovely and light and we had a beautiful view.
Katie and I had signed up for the full weekend of four workshops. The first workshop was my favourite of them all, we made a beautiful wooden heart with lots of texture.
During the afternoon we made a card and a tag:
On Sunday we started the morning by making some gorgeous tiny art pieces:
I really enjoyed this class too - it was fun to learn some new paint techniques.
In the afternoon we decorated the covers of a journal:
I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, I met some lovely ladies, and I really found the workshops interesting - it was nice to do something very different from my usual style and I've definitely picked up some techniques that I'm going to transfer into my card making. For me, a lot of my card making is for commissions, classes or TV, so do something creative just for fun was a lovely change. I can see that I'm going to be signing up for more workshops in the future!
