Spellbloggers - Layered Cake and Celebrate

I've got two different cards to share today, and cards for two different occasions too - a wedding card and a birthday card.

Let's start with the wedding card, which I made using the Die D-Lites Layered Cake die set.  

I went for a muted colour scheme for this card, I used a pale blush ink to create an ombre effect on the cake, and for the background I used the Medallion Embossing folder by Donna Salazar, and to keep it subtle, I just rubbed a white ink pad over the raised areas to highlight the design without detracting from the cake.

I popped the die cut onto a vellum circle cut using the Spellbinders Celebrations Pierced Circle die set by Richard Garay.  Then of course, I had to add some Wink of Stella to the cake to give it a little shimmer.

For my second card, I decided to make a card that would work for a man, so I opted for a blue and green colour scheme.   I used the Die D-Lites Celebrate die set - I love balloons, they are just ideal for masculine cards (I hate those kind of typical male cards with beer or football!).   

For the background, I used the Bubble Wrap embossing folder by Donna Salazar, and as I did with the last card, I just rubbed a white ink pad over the raised areas.   I cut the balloons from white card and used my Copics to colour them - that way i could add some shading and highlights.  I die cut the sentiment from slate grey card, then added some Glossy Accents over the top to create some shine.  Then - you guessed it - I added some Wink of Stella to the balloons!
