Crafty Inspiration - Natalia Harandon

I've known Natty for several years now but I first got to know her when we were both on the Daring Cardmakers Challenge blog DT.   By the way, if you're ever struggling for inspiration, taking part in challenges is a great way to kick-start creativity.

Anyway, back to Nat, and why you should definitely check out her blog.  She has a contemporary style, but she has a fabulous ability to mix and match patterned papers that I'm totally in awe of.  Her cards are always fun, and cute.

Here are a few of my favourite projects from Nat:

Love the layout of this card - the cacti are so cute, and the little flash of gold foil gives it just that little something.  Just gorgeous.

Well, there's a bit of a rainbow going on, what more do I need to say?  

Nat always makes the best Christmas cards.  I don't know if she is still doing it, but she used to make a Christmas card a week so she had 52 by Christmas.  I'm always in awe of her designs.

See what I mean?  This is a great example of the skill she has in mixing papers.  Something that scares me!

I love this card - so many elements that just go together seamlessly.  So pretty.

Colours and patterns that look amazing together - another awesome Christmas card.

Crafty Inspiration - Pete Hughes

Today I'm back with the second post on my Crafty Inspiration theme - this is a regular thing I plan to do, sharing with you the people that I find inspiring, in the hope that you will too!

I'm very lucky to work with Pete Hughes.  He has worked at Sizzix since the UK office first opened, so there is no one alive that knows more about Sizzix and die cutting than Pete.

Pete is an extremely talented designer.  Aside from creating amazing projects, he also designs dies for Sizzix.   I think my favourite die from last year was his Pretty Wreath die set - I have used that set SO much.   

Pete has a unique ability to look at a die set and come up with something you would never have thought to do.  His style is contemporary, but he mixes clean and simple with mixed media so well.

Here are a few of my favourite projects by Pete:

I had to share this one first - my favourite wreath die set.  These 4 projects show just how versatile it is, and how many different looks and themes it works with.

I love the rustic feel to this card, and the placement is just perfect - one of Pete's skills is to layer elements so the end result looks clean and simple, yet when you look closely, there are lots of lovely little details.

This Robin die is another of Pete's designs.  I had it on one of my Hochanda shows recently, and I really loved coming up with ideas with it.  I love how he's used it on this card, again lots of clever layers.

I remember watching Pete demo this one on Hochanda - the rust effect is so clever.

I love the simplicity of this white on white scheme.  Something I probably wouldn't think to try, but the end result is just stunning.

Pete doesn't really use social media - however he regularly blogs on the Sizzix blog, and all his projects are shared here.

Crafty Inspiration - Katie Skilton

I'm planning on having a regular feature on my blog where I share with you some of my favourite crafters, those who really inspire me.  I'll include links to their blogs and social media, so that if you are also inspired you can check them out and follow them too.

So first up, is my partner in crime, Katie Skilton.  Who else could I feature first?  I've known Katie for many years now.  We were both on the Docrafts DT together, and Katie's work stood out because of her clean and simple, contemporary style, and I always admired her projects.

Shortly after we both left that team, Katie joined Sizzix, and now, all these years later, I'm lucky enough to be working with Katie again.

I've picked out some of my favourite projects of Katie's to share with you:

Katie has a real skill for making projects for children, and also for craft ideas that you can make with children.  I love the fun feel to these Christmas cards.

I love the colours and layout of these cards, they have a simple feel, but are full of life and colour.  I also wish I was as good with photography as Katie!

This was my favourite die set from last year, and I really love what Katie did with them here.  The colour scheme is stunning, and the little details just make these cards amazing.

Another clever use of colour - Katie always manages to create a bright, cheerful look, while combining lots of colours.
