Crafty Inspiration - Natalia Harandon

I've known Natty for several years now but I first got to know her when we were both on the Daring Cardmakers Challenge blog DT.   By the way, if you're ever struggling for inspiration, taking part in challenges is a great way to kick-start creativity.

Anyway, back to Nat, and why you should definitely check out her blog.  She has a contemporary style, but she has a fabulous ability to mix and match patterned papers that I'm totally in awe of.  Her cards are always fun, and cute.

Here are a few of my favourite projects from Nat:

Love the layout of this card - the cacti are so cute, and the little flash of gold foil gives it just that little something.  Just gorgeous.

Well, there's a bit of a rainbow going on, what more do I need to say?  

Nat always makes the best Christmas cards.  I don't know if she is still doing it, but she used to make a Christmas card a week so she had 52 by Christmas.  I'm always in awe of her designs.

See what I mean?  This is a great example of the skill she has in mixing papers.  Something that scares me!

I love this card - so many elements that just go together seamlessly.  So pretty.

DCM - Literacy Week

Joanne has chosen a great theme this week at the Daring Cardmakers - and despite making my card in plenty of time, I'm late posting!  I've had a crazy and quite stressful week as my dad isn't well, and on top of that I'd planned a 2 day trip to Spain solely to clear away a birds nest from my parent's apartment.   So in all that rushing around I forgot to do my blog post.

So better late than never, here's my literacy themed card:

I didn't have much in the way of book stamps or dies, so decided to go for a teacher theme, and a thank you card.   I thought I could save it for my niece or nephew to give to their teacher.

DCM - Elemental

Kathy has chosen a lovely inspirational photo for us this week at the Daring Cardmakers:

So many elements to choose from, but as soon as I saw those little hexagon shapes I thought of this hexagon die, so I decided to use some of the pastel colours and the tiles to create this simple card.

DCM - Coffee to Go

The theme this week at the Daring Cardmakers is Coffee to Go - but your card can feature any kind of takeaway.   My little pup with the pizza from last week would have been good for this one too!    I decided to stick with coffee for mine and the lovely Coffee & Tea stamp set from Simon Says Stamp.

I coloured the cups with Copic markers, and used the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches die set for the black and teal rectangles.   I added a bit of white pigment ink around the edges of the black to make it look like a chalkboard.  I really love this stamp set, and these coffee cups are lovely to colour.

DCM - Action

This week's challenge at the Daring Cardmakers is to use the word 'Action' as a prompt.  I immediately thought of my action wobblers, so that was my starting point, then I looked for a cute image that would be good wobbling.

I just recently received the Favorite Puperoni stamp set from Simon Says Stamp as a birthday freebie, so I decided to colour in that cute little puppy.

The background was created by using Distress Oxide inks together with a stencil that came free with this month's Making Cards magazine.  I coloured the little pup with Copics, then used one of the small size action wobblers to attach him.  He looks so cute when he moves.

I needed to make a new baby card so I went for a pink elephant!

DCM - All Tied Up

Kathy has chosen a great theme this week at the Daring Cardmakers and she wants to see string, fibres, twine on our cards.

I decided to keep it simple and just make a little twine nest behind some flowers.  I haven't used my W Plus9 Fresh Cut Florals stamp set for a while, so I decided to make a little bouquet and team it with my new border dies from Pretty Pink Posh.

DCM - Seaside

Lythan has chosen the perfect theme for this week's Daring Cardmakers challenge, and I really wish I was at the seaside now!

I used Distress Oxides for the background, together with a stencil by Balzer Designs.   The cute seahorse is a Spellbinders die, and I added some of the Prima Mettalique wax in White Gold to the embossed areas.

DCM - Out of this World

Joanne has chosen the theme this week at The Daring Cardmakers, and she has picked 'Out of this World'.  She wants us to feature imaginary or mystical things such as mermaids, fairies, dragons, unicorns etc.   I went a little off track with this one.  I planned to do a mermaid card, but then as I was searching through my pile of rubber mounted stamps I came across an angel stamp that I haven't used in years and I wanted to use that.   It's stretching the theme a little as to me, angels definitely aren't imaginary, but I think it loosely still counts!

So not only did I push the limits on the theme, it seems I also created a card that was almost impossible to photograph!   It's a little over the top with the shimmer - I used the Gansai Tambi Starry Colours watercolours to colour the image, as well as some of the Cosmic Shimmer Iridescent Shimmering Watercolours.  The background is gold shimmer card that I've embossed.  So with all that gold, shimmer and texture it's pretty hard to photograph.
