Spellbloggers - Framed Hello

Hi everyone, I'm back with another Spellbloggers post.  Today I'm featuring the gorgeous Framed Hello stamp by Tammy Tutterow.

I've made a couple of cards, which quite different looks.  First up, I used some Kuretake Clean Colour Real Brush markers to colour the stamped image.

I kept the rest of the card fairly simple and just added a turquoise frame behind the stamped piece - this is the Nestabilities Iron Elegante die.

For my second card, I decided to go for my favourite white embossing on kraft card.

I used an old Stampin' Up background stamp for the stripes in the background (I've had it a long time so not sure if it's still available).   Then I stamped the Framed Hello onto kraft card and embossed with white embossing powder.  I used coloured pencils to colour the image as I find they are the best option for kraft card as markers don't show up too well.

Spellblogger - Floral Divine and Splattered Circles

Hi, I'm back with another Spellblogger project - plus a video showing how I put the cards together.

 I used the fabulous Floral Divine stamp and die set by Debi Adams, and the background is created with the Splattered Circles embossing folder by Donna Salazar.  I inked up the embossing folder to create the lovely coloured effect - all the details are in the video below.

 I hope my video inspires you to ink up some of your folders and give this technique a try!

Spellbloggers - Woodland Trees

This week I have two cards to share using the Spellbinders Die D-Lites Woodland Trees die set.

There are three different 'tree tops' in the set, along with a tree trunk.  It's a great set for combining with any other scene dies and stamps you already have.

For this first card, I used white card for the tree tops, which is coloured with two different shades of green ink.   It's quite a simple design but I think this card would be suitable for lots of different occasions if you changed the sentiment.

For my second card I used the Splattered Circles embossing folder to create a background.  I used some Coredinations Whitewash card that has a teal coloured core, and once I embossed the card I gave it a light sand to reveal the core colour.   Again this design could be adapted to suit many occasions.

Spellbloggers - Beautiful Woodland Wreath die set

I'm back today with a selection of cards, all made with just one die set - the Woodland Wreath set.

I have a bit of a thing for wreath designs, and I already have a lot of different wreath stamps and dies so when I saw this set I was instantly in love.   The great thing is that it has two different sized wreaths so you have the ability to make large and small cards and you can also mix and match these basic wreath shapes with other flower sets you might have.

My first card uses the larger wreath, and this card measures 6x6 inches.

You know I have a thing for rainbows right?   It was the only colour scheme to go for :)    For this card, I die cut the large wreath from white card sized to fit the card front, that way I could inset the green wreath shape into the card front which gives a really professional finish.   I added a bit of Tumbled Glass Distress ink behind and stamped my greeting, then I went to town with the flowers!    I die cut lots of the small flowers in the set from a rainbow of coloured card, and then added some coloured pearls to the centre of each.  This card really makes me happy.

Next I decided to make a couple of cards using the smaller wreath from the set.

I added some aqua cardstock to the card front and added a bit of faux stitching in white, then I die cut the small wreath from brown card, and some of the coordinating flowers and leaves from green and lilac.  I added a few pearls, then stamped a greeting in the centre.  A really quick and simple card, but one that could easily work for any occasion.

Lastly, I couldn't resist another rainbow!   This time I decided to put all the colour on the card, and keep the actual wreath element white and simple.

I used the 'wet on wet' watercolour technique to create the background.  I held the die cut wreath above the watercolour card I had cut to fit the card front.  Then using that as a guide, I painted some clean water in a circle shape, then dropped some watercolour paint into the water so that the colours spread organically.   Once that was dry I went back in to enhance the colours where I felt they had got a bit muddy, then I added some matching paint splatters before stamping the greeting.   I added the white wreath with foam pads so that it is raised above the painted area, then I added a scattering of pearls.

I hope I've given you some ideas for this fabulous set.   I still have a ton of things I'd like to try with it - I think an all white version would be lovely for a wedding card, and I'd like to do one in Autumn colours too.  Of course I also haven't even started to mix and match this with some of my other sets - and that opens up a whole world of possibilities!

I think you'll be seeing lots more of this set from me :)

Totally Tropical

Last two cards for my card class - and both are very bright and tropical!

The background is ink blended with Distress inks then I've added some water drops to give a bit of interest.  The bird and pineapple are also coloured with Distress inks that I've used as watercolours.

Spellbloggers - Home Sweet Home

I'm back with another card for Spellbinders, and I decided to use the lovely Home Sweet Home stamp by Tammy Tutterow.

It's such a beautiful stamp I wanted to keep the rest of the card fairly simple and I thought watercolours would really show the design off well.

I heat embossed the image onto watercolour card with white embossing powder.   Because I knew I was going to have to paint over the whole design in order for the 'sweet home' text to show up, I wanted to ensure the word 'home' didn't get lost, so I painted that with some of the Starry Colours metallic gold paints.   I coloured the flowers and leaves with the standard Gansai Tambi colours, and used the light blue in the set to cover the whole design so that the text would show nicely.

It's hard to photograph but you can just about see the lovely metallic shimmer in this pic.  I wanted to keep the rest of the card simple so it didn't compete with the main image, so I just added a mat using some polkadot digi paper from Pink Petticoat

Card class sneak peeks

My next card class at the Holiday Inn in Bromsgrove is on the 10 June.  I have a couple of places left so drop me an email if you'd like to join us.

For this class we're going to be using lots of Distress ink techniques and for these two cards I used distress inks to watercolour the main images, and for the Hello card I also created a background by smooshing some distress inks with an acetate sheet.

Spellbloggers - Flower Swag 5

Today I've got a couple of Spellbinders cards to share, along with a YouTube video tutorial.

I used the Flower Swag 5 stamp by Tammy Tutterow for both cards, and I wanted to show two very different looks by using watercolour card for one, and some slate grey card for the other.

Spellbloggers - Die D-Lites Seahorse and Sand Dollar

This is a very sparkly card in real life!    I used the Spellbinders Die D-Lites seahorse and sand dollar dies, and cut both from white cardstock that I'd coloured with Distress inks.  I ran both back through my Platinum with the tan embossing mat and embossing plate so that the details were nicely embossed, then  I rubbed some copper gilding wax over both to give a lovely metallic finish to the raised areas.   

I used a That's Crafty dinky stencil to create the background, I used a palette knife to add some Cosmic Shimmer sparkle texture paste through the stencil to create those lovely glittery bubbles.
